Instagram is becoming more visible than ever. From 10 July 2025, public content from professional accounts (Business and Creator) will start appearing in Google search results and other search engines.

This represents a great opportunity for brands and businesses: Instagram becomes a new gateway for more people to find you, even outside the social network.

If you already take care with what you post, now is the time to take a step further: also consider how to position your content for search engines. In this article we explain what this change implies, how to take advantage of it, and why it’s important to do SEO on Instagram as well.


What exactly is going to change?

Until now, Instagram content was barely indexed by Google. Except for your profile (if it was public) or a direct URL, posts did not appear in the results.

From 10 July 2025, Instagram will allow its public professional content to be automatically indexed by search engines like Google or Bing. This means:

  • Your posts may appear when someone makes a related search on Google about your real estate agency or area of operation.
  • Instagram becomes a source of organic traffic, not just a social network.

This only affects professional accounts (Business or Creator) that have this option enabled in the privacy settings. Personal or private accounts will not be affected.

Key steps to prepare your professional profile

  1. Check if this option is available for you. Some accounts already have this function active, others don’t. Go to Settings > Privacy > Public Content and see if you can enable your posts to appear on search engines.

  2. Make sure you have a professional account. If your profile is still personal, switch it to Business or Creator from account settings.

  3. Optimise your posts with SEO in mind (see tips below).


What does this mean for a real estate agency?

Much more than it seems. Agencies that publish quality content and do so with a clear positioning strategy will gain more visibility outside Instagram, and more chances to appear on Google when someone searches for a property or agency in a specific area.

 

  • For example:

A user searches on Google: “chalets for sale in Ciudad Quesada”

If you have a recent Instagram post with that phrase in the text and a good description, Google can show your post among the results.

And the best part: you don’t need to pay for it. It’s organic visibility.

How can you optimise your Instagram content for SEO?

Although the indexing process will be done automatically by Instagram, there are actions you (or your marketing agency) can take to improve the chances of appearing on Google:

  1. Use clear and natural descriptions: Write your post texts also thinking about the Google user. What would someone interested in your properties search for?
  2. Include local keywords: Phrases like “luxury villas in Moraira”, “apartments for sale in Torrevieja”, or “real estate agency in Costa Blanca” are key.
  3. Avoid excessive use of hashtags or emojis in the first paragraph: Google prioritises understandable content. Leave hashtags for the end.
  4. Post consistently: Fresh and recent content has more chances to appear in searches.
  5. Accompany images with valuable text: Google cannot “see” your photos, but it can read what you write. Use this space to explain, tell, describe.

 

What if you don’t want your content to show on Google?

Instagram will allow you to disable this option. If you prefer to keep your posts only within the app, you can manage it from the privacy settings.

That said: you will lose a real opportunity to attract visits from outside Instagram.
