The Costa Blanca continues to establish itself as one of the most attractive Mediterranean destinations for high-net-worth international buyers. And the latest figures show just how strongly this profile is driving the region’s luxury property market.
According to data compiled by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Spain, international buyers now account for 72% of the transactions analysed within the Costa Blanca’s premium segment, compared with 28% from the domestic market. The nationalities with the strongest presence include British, Dutch and German buyers.
This is a particularly interesting trend for Costa Blanca estate agencies that specialise in exclusive properties and whose target audience is often based outside Spain.

What are luxury buyers looking for on the Costa Blanca?
Detached villas with contemporary architecture, both new-build and renovated, are among the most sought-after properties. Sea views, outdoor spaces and high-quality construction are some of the features buyers value most.
There is also strong interest in penthouses and apartments with large terraces, good views, privacy, prime locations and high-quality finishes. Country properties account for part of this demand too, although supply is more limited.
Among the most exclusive areas are El Portet in Moraira, Altea Hills, Benissa Costa and Les Rotes in Dénia. In these locations, the most exceptional properties can reach and even exceed €8,000 per square metre.

Second homes and quality of life: two important factors
Another relevant factor is what motivates these buyers. According to the published information, second homes for personal use continue to account for a significant share, while financial returns are not usually the main reason for purchasing.
The aim is to enjoy the property during holidays and spend increasingly longer periods in Spain, something that has also been facilitated by remote working. In some cases, this second home subsequently becomes the buyer’s permanent residence.
All of this reinforces the Costa Blanca’s position as a market capable of attracting international buyers who are not simply looking for a property, but also a particular lifestyle and quality of life.

Luxury properties, international buyers… and a digital experience to match?
For estate agencies operating in this segment, these figures also raise an important consideration.
Many of these British, Dutch or German buyers will discover the agency and its properties online before travelling to Spain. A website therefore becomes an important part of the first impression they receive of the estate agency.
If an agency markets properties worth several million euros, its digital presentation should convey the same level of quality: a premium, visually engaging, fast website, available in different languages and capable of showcasing each property with the prominence it deserves.
Because selling a luxury property also means providing an experience that matches the product being marketed.
At Mediaelx Real Estate Solutions, we develop premium websites for estate agencies that want to take particular care over their brand image, their properties and the experience they offer international buyers.
